Rebecca Riel Fine Art

WELCOME TO MY ONLINE PORTFOLIO, GALLERY, AND SHOP!

My name is Rebecca Riel, a listed artist (AskArt.com) and award-winning painter. Here is where I can share my love of Native American Art and Culture, where I celebrate "First People's" diverse artwork and artifacts, lovingly rendered in realistic still life paintings and illustrations, through oil, acrylic, watercolor and pen and ink drawings. Here, too, you will find the Southwest and Western landscapes that my mind wants to explore. I feel blessed and humbled at having had my artwork accepted and displayed nationally in shows, galleries and museums for over twenty years.

I am drawn to the rich history of California Impressionist Art. I have journeyed throughout the Southwestern regions for inspiration, from "Big Sky" Montana expanses, Wyoming's wild hills (and wildlife!), down to the dramatic colors and vistas of New Mexico, Arizona (Grand Canyon sunsets!), Utah (isn't Zion absolutely awe-inspiring?) and all points in between, and back to my home turf of rural California. And, entwined with the Southwest and West is my affection and respect for the generations of cowboys who care for these open ranges and bring with them a code of conduct that is still valued today.

When I return home, those little hearts and souls of our domestic animal companions are there to welcome me home. And, yes, I can't resist capturing their little spirits in portraits, too. Dogs, cats, horses, chickens and birds - they make our homes worth coming back to. Then I can sit in my garden and see the "small things" that tug at me to create botanical and zoological illustrations to remember when the seasons turn colder, and encourage quiet introspection.

Though I know it would take several lifetimes to get tired of my "home pond" of the Southwest, I know I would also love, someday (soon!), to explore the amazingly rich cultures of the Pacific Northwest Coast. Soon...

Follow me on this journey, and thank you for visiting me here!
